Ain't he cute? :D

Various knitting projects....

I post them on Ravelry (when I remember) and another blog, but there's no reason you can't enjoy them as well! Top scarf is two different colors of Noro Silk Garden lite, alternating rows. Second scarf is 100% Peruvian hand dyed wool, 2x2 rib, fingerless mitts are from Regia stretch sock yarn, pink socks are Sock Ease in a lace pattern, twin Girs are for Nathan from Bernat acrylic yarn-pattern online but "tweaked" quite a bit.

O.M.G. I have just had the worst convo in recent memory and had to share.

I was talking to someone after my Bible study class and was reminded just how nutso the fundamentalist right wing nutjobs really are. Zealots, "the faithful," "true Christians," whatever you prefer.

She was railing against President Obama, gays, and pretty much everything I stand for. I've always believed that Jesus wants us to love our neighbor, but this woman was totally hateful in her venom spitting tirade. Scary mary. :P

What always astounds me when I find myself in this sort of situation is just how ignorant and clueless and thoughtless people are. I was clearly uncomfortable, but I doubt she noticed.

One of our lessons this year has been about encouraging one another, having compassion, not making others "stumble in their faith," but she must have missed that week. I still feel terrible.

Of course, I'll pray for her, but I'm sure she thinks I'm going straight to hell for my beliefs.

Gonna try to give her the benefit of a doubt and think maybe she was sooooo carried away she didn't get it. But I don't think that is the case.

Whatever, it's her problem, not mine.

Merry Christmas from Donald!

Helloooooo again! Long time, no see!

You might have noticed a change in format here. I've exported my other blog, Chosenlass.blogspot.com to be included here. I am "retiring" my Tmobile MDA at some point and am trying to consolidate the mobile blogs. You might have also noticed different formats for some of the photos. Some were sent from my smartphone, some from the MDA, depending on which blog they are from.

I've recently upgraded to a Blackberry (again, yay!) and will be using that from now on. In fact, I'm using it now and will post something from it shortly as a test.

Speaking of Blackberry....I had a RIM Blackberry pager yeeeears ago and really had some fun with it. I had it mainly to communicate with all of my deaf customers. Then Wyndtell started screwing around with the service, the chats, etc, and most of us jumped ship to TMobile and started using Sidekicks. Yeah, they were cool, too, but mine eventually stopped charging, so I upgraded to the HTC MDA, which I loved/still love. But since I upgraded my smartphone phone to a BB, I find I don't need the MDA anymore. The BB does it all, and this way I can save some money.

The process of switching over has been a bit of a trial. I had to uninstall and reinstall the BB desktop manager software to enable the sync with the MDA contacts, etc, to the BB. The simple SIM card switch from my phone was easy, but I found I had lots of contacts on the MDA that I didn't want to laboriously type in. But it might have been easier to just do that, since I spent all day yesterday getting the software to work! Turns out you need to downgrade the software to make it work. I checked lots of forums and I wasn't the only one having the problem of "not being connected to the internet" when trying to sync. The problem has been ongoing for over a year and I guess they (RIM) don't find it necessary to fix the problem.

But hey, I didn't sit down here to whine and moan. LOL

Hard to believe it's 2009 already. I saw a good comic about that this morning, and the response was to hand them a calendar and tell them to spot the pattern. :P

Without further ado.....

Elk at LOone Elk Park!

Friday, August 08, 2008

Yup, here we are in sunny Pennsylvania. We just lunched at the world famous.....ha! Midway Diner! Bison burgers and meatloaf...how could one go wrong...

We are on our way home from Lawn Guyland. We spent a few days there after the Longaberger bee. Nice coincidence that Marshall and Diane were there as well from Australia. We haven't seen them since we were there in 2001. Probably won't see them again for another few years.

Nice to be with folks but the humidity and mozzies (that's skeeters to you and me) drove us nuts. Window a/c just doesn't do much for a whole house.

Might stop in on Howie and co. on the way home. I haven't met Norah yet.

That is all....for now....

Nathan's Chicago apt.

Nathan was in Chicago for a block, studying a history topic at the Newberry Library in downtown Chicago. His topic was the rivalry between St. Louis and Chicago. The students stayed in the Canterbury Court Apts in the Gold Coast area. Those of you not familiar with Chicago don't know that it is the second most affluent area in the US.
As one could assume, he had a wonderful time and has decided he is definitely a "city boy"!

Laumeier Sculpture Park

We did another 30/30 walk on Monday through Laumeier Park in STL County. Very pretty walk through some woods, as well as paved trails. This is only a sampling of the large number of artworks in the park. I don't necessarily go in for modern or contemporary art, but I do appreciate the work involved.
The red one has been there forever. The wooden box one is one I hadn't noticed before. There are 45 of them, virtually identical. I think I'd have stopped at about three. LOL
The blurb on the white man (I personally hate those artist blurbs...) says that the artist started at #1 and has sequenced numbers every day. This is how far he or she got when this was finished. "Man's inhumanity to man," is all I can say. :P
